About Us
Interact Club Sarajevo - Serving the community since 2014
District 1910 • Club 211607
What is Interact?
Interact is a global program of Rotary International for young people ages 12-18. It brings together high school students to serve their community, develop leadership skills, and build friendships through volunteering. As part of the Rotary family (Rotary, Rotaract, Interact), clubs work with the support of Rotary mentors from their sponsor club - for us, that's Rotary Club Sarajevo, founded in 1930.
Our Story
Interact was launched in 1962 in Melbourne, Florida when a local Rotary Club founded the first Interact club as a platform for high school students to engage in community service.
Today Interact brings together over 20,000 clubs in 160+ countries, connected with local Rotary clubs that sponsor them. The focus is on leadership development, community service, and international understanding.
Interact Club Sarajevo was founded on October 14, 2014 under the sponsorship of Rotary Club Sarajevo and operates in District 1910 (club 211607). The club's charter was approved on July 11, 2016. We meet on Tuesdays where high school students plan humanitarian projects, collaborate with Rotary mentors, and grow as future leaders of the Rotary community.
“Service Above Self”
The Rotary family motto 'Service Above Self' reminds us that by serving others we make the world a better place and develop as individuals.
Interact Goals
Interact Club Sarajevo is guided by these goals:
- To empower young people to create visible impact in their school and community.
- To connect with the Rotary family, mentors, and peers who support our projects.
- To develop leadership skills, responsibility, and teamwork through hands-on projects.
- To promote international understanding and friendship with Interact clubs around the world.
Four Avenues of Interact Service
Interact nurtures the ideal of service through four avenues: club, school, community, and international collaboration.
We build an open and fun club: regular meetings, teamwork, project planning, and social activities that connect members.
We organize activities at school - from helping younger students, school projects, to educational workshops that help our peers.
We carry out humanitarian and social projects in Sarajevo - from fundraising campaigns to volunteer events that change our community.
We network with Interact clubs in District 1910 and around the world, participate in exchanges, and collaborate on international projects.
Our Areas of Focus
We empower young people who promote dialogue, inclusion, and peace through collaborative projects.
We work on youth mental health initiatives, prevention, and peer support.
We organize eco cleanup activities and support environmental protection projects in our community.
We lead workshops, tutoring programs, and provide support to younger students.
We help peers through workshops on skills, presentations, and preparing for the future.
We focus projects on supporting children, families, and those who need help the most.
